WORLD BOOKMARK DAY (Woboda) - 25 February
The World Bookmark Day shall be celebrated on 25 February 2017 the first time and was launched by International Friends of Bookmarks (IFOB) in March 2016. The upcomint event in 2017 is accompanied by a series of activities that can be seen on the Woboda page on this website.

Spring Swapmeet 2017 Sunday 23 April in Ewell, near Epsom, from 2.15 pm to 5.45 pm, hosted by Ann and Eric Hill. The theme is 'Drinks' - of all kinds.
Autumn Swapmeet 2017 Saturday 7th october in York. The theme will be 'Animal-centred charities and domestic animals'.
Bookmark Exhibition LeseZEICHEN - by Rosemarie Abel - March 15 - September 30, 2016 Our member Rosemarie Abel shows over 300 bookmarks from all over the world on the current bookmark exhibition hosted by the largest children museum in Germany, Explorado Kindermuseum in Duisburg.. In der Ausstellung "LeseZEICHEN" präsentiert das Explorado Kindermuseum in Duisburg Lesezeichen aus der ganzen Welt. Zu sehen sind über 300 Lesezeichen aus der privaten Sammlung der Duisburgerin Rosemarie Abel.

Contest - My most interesting bookmark ❤️ Contest running in February 2017 on Instagram, Pinterest and on the IFOB website. Participants can upload a picture of their most interesting bookmark and tell why they think the bookmark presented is so special. The winner shall be elected on 25 February 2017, the celebration day of the very first World Bookmark Day.
Bookmark Contest organized by Monroe Street Books Monroe Street Books is having a contest for 2016. Win a $100.00 gift certificate for our store. To win: Design an original bookmark judged the best of the month by the Monroe Street Staff. It’s a year-long contest meaning 12 months, 12 winners. Open to all ages. University of Bristol - The Bookmarks Project The Bookmarks Project of the university aims to encourage appreciation of work in the format of the artist's book. Participating artists each produce an edition of 100 signed and numbered bookmarks to give away through distribution boxes at venues around the world. Over the last thirteen years, the Bookmarks series of free artwork distribution has visited 137 galleries, bookstores, workshops, centres, schools and libraries in several countries.
ISLM Bookmark Project The ISLM (International Association of School Librarianship) Bookmark Project involves matched schools making homemade bookmarks (any style, shape, etc - be creative) to exchange with each other. Bloomsbury Ephemera Fair - London, UK, April 24, 2016 Etc Fairs’ monthly London Ephemera Fairs are held at the Royal National Hotel, Bloomsbury, and run throughout the year. As usual expect a fantastic mix of dealers in books, ephemera, maps, prints and postcards.
Festival International de la Bande Dessinée Angoulême - 28-31 January 2016 The leading French Comic Festival is the biggest event of its kind in Europe. Many illustrated bookmarks advertising the festival and the books presented on the festival are available. The festival offers also the possibility to meet renowned comic book illustrators who would not only sign their books on request, but also make a personal bookmark for the visitor if desired.
Comic Con International San Diego - March 31 - April 2, 2017 Only 300 visitors were present as the Comic Con International in San Diego opened up its doors in 1970. 45 years later, it is the world largest fair of its kind and has long ceased to be a platform for comic and fantasy nerds only The American event is meanwhile a pop cultur phenomenon: comic figures, fantasy creatures, and movie heroes are brought to life when hundreds of thousands dressed up fans walk through the halls in San Diego. Comic-Con International: San Diego is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.
Fantasy Basel - Swiss Comic Con - May 5-7 The festival will cover 30,000 sq m across five halls, with around 200 stands, shows, artist tables and activities ranging from games and game design to comics, cosplay, film and TV series and lots of must-see exhibitions. Movies, TV series, games, e-sports, comics, cosplay, walking acts, art, game design, anime, exhibitions, film props, artist alley, science-fiction, fantasy, virtual reality, stars, photo & autograph area, panels, shows, merchanidising, manga, steampunk, youtuber, tabletops and much more!
Comic Con Germany - June 25-26, 2016 Stuttgart It was a long time, but now we can finally present our very first Comic Con Germany. You will find comic artist and publishing houses, anime, cosplay, Hollywood actors, exhibits, walking acts, movie proprs, audiobook on more then 30.000 squaremeters plus our large dealers area where you can shop until you drop. Furthermore you can buy autographs from our Hollywood actors, listen to them on stage or get your photo taken with them in our photo studio.
Foire du Livre de Bruxelles / Brussels Book Fair - 9-13 March 2017 Very recommendable for bookmark collectors is a visit at the booth of Éditions Apeiron, a publishing house from France which produces quasi handmade art books in leporello (fold-out book) format. There you can get beautiful bookmarks illustrated by the artists working for the publishing house. Many thanks to our member Sylvia Thiteux for providing this information.
Vilnius Book Fair (Lithuania) - 23-26 February 2017 The International Vilnius Book Fair is the well-known cultural activity in Lithuania and the biggest and most important book fair in the Baltic countries. Each year over 300 publishers, book traders, etc take part in the Vilnius Book Fair, the event is attended by more than 60.000 visitors.
Latvian Book Fair 2016 - 26-28 February 2016 The Latvian Book Fair is held annually in Riga, Latvia. The book fair 2015 gathered 52 participants and was attended by 15,228 visitors.
Livre Paris (Salon du Livre de Paris) - Paris Book Fair - 17-20 March 2016 In its 36th edition, Paris Book Fair presents some novelties: the name of the fair has been changed to the short formula Livre Paris, a new visual identity has been created, and for the first time there will be a cultural program outside the walls of the fair staged on the banks of the river Seine. However, they have not been able to install an English version of their website yet.
Foire du Livre Saint Louis - Book Fair Saint Louis - 22-24 April 2016 This small book fair in the French town Saint Louis, located in the border triangle between France, Switzerland, and Germany, is an interesting place to visit for bookmark collectors as many book illustrators and comic book artists are present on different days and they sell or give out for free some of their products, among them the occasional bookmark. They may also illustrate a bookmark upon request.

Frankfurt Book Fair - 19-23 October 2016 The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest event of the publishing industry. The exhibiting publishers present every year a vast quantity of free advertising bookmarks, very popular by collectors. The fair is only open for public on Saturday & Sunday, the previous days are reserved for professionals.
